thanks to the wonderfully scheduled exam schedule, here i am after taking a 50min paper, because i don't take physics :D nyeh nyeh to you. hah xDanyway. this stupid thing has been dead for a week. cos i've been studying. or pretending to study. or falling asleep while studying. or something like that. you get the idea.so. i am supposed to be studying chem. but since my parents are both out at lunch appointments (-.-) i shall steal time to blog a little.let's talk about CHINESELAMATHBIOIH.chinese was. okay i guess. hopefully i pass.LA was ^%#^!%!@#$ okay. bloody srq. i hope i pass.math was. blah? haha not that bad i think. i might pass. although my best friend, careless, was there as usual, as she always is especially during MATH papers.bio was. quite easy. the whole class was sleeping. haha. i love christinelee :D i hope i pass and not fail cos of careless mistakes. i'll scream, i tell you.ih. stupid ih. elaineng didnt teach a single bloody thing-.- i was just blahing everything i know about poverty. most of it didn't make much sense actually. hah whatever. it's just a pathetic 0.3% goodness.and tomorrow's chem. i'd better not fail or kuo'll fry my ass.i'm bored. i shall do a review of New Dawn, just for fun. i told you i'm bored xDLibera's latest offering, as usual, presents the listener with an audio feast fit for a king. These new tracks are a fresh change from their well-known hits they have become synonymous with in recent years. These 14 songs are composed of mostly new material and fresh renditions of old classics. It is an amazing collection, from the fast and lively Orinoco Flow to a majestic and glorious rendition of Gloria, to the comtemplative and mysterious May The Road Rise Up. Libera will once again stun you with these 14 beautifully composed tracks, they will electrify your senses with their mystical and shimmering harmonies, they will send shivers and sparks of excitement down your spine with their scintillating voices and precocious young talents. Honestly, they make it so easy to forget that they do this just as a past time.1. Orinoco Flow- Opens with a few sets of tentative sounding ahhhs before delving into an exciting and revitalising rendition of Enya's Orinoco Flow. A great lively song to start the CD, it just leaves you wanting more.2. Ave Maria (Caccini)- The beautiful soft harmonies in the opening ahhs prepare you for Tom Cully's breathtaking solo. I prefer Tom's rendition to Steven Geraghty's from the album Luminosa because of his more meditative and emotive voice though Steven's transition between ranges is more seamless. Tom hits some high notes here which together with his solo in Air will make you marvel at his high range.3. Secret- A really sweet song composed by Robert Prizeman for Josh Madine's equally sweet voice. The song complements Josh's voice perfectly and vice versa. This song somehow hits you with its subtlety and simplicity, and packaged with Josh's lovely melodic voice it's a great addition to Libera's collection.4. Air (Air on the G string by Bach)- Robert Prizeman's arrangement of this classical favourite for the voice creates a whole, full, layered sound beautifully performed by the Libera boys. Tom Cully hits stunning high notes in this song, and the other soloists- credited as Edward Day, Joshua Madine and Liam Connery- support him well and harmonise seamlessly together to create a heart- stopping masterpiece.5. Gloria (based on Saint- Saen's Organ Symphony)- This is just full powerhouse Libera in your face, the energy is kept up high throughout. Libera sounds highly majestic and glorious through the song, which ends on a brilliant descant.6. Sancte- This song makes you wish it was much much longer than its 5min and 16sec. Exceptional solo work from Liam Connery, this song is an astounding mesh of emotions and complex harmonies performed brilliantly by the boys. This is to me the gem of this album, yet another display of Robert Prizeman's musical genius and the boys' vocal wizardry. Brilliant in every sense.7. Rest in Peace- An exquisite little song with beautifully written lyrics, Tom Cully's solo in the middle of the song displays his unusally strong middle range, and heart-rending emotions in his voice.8. Love and Mercy- This song contains moving and poignant harmonies throughout, combined with Tom Cully and Josh Madine's lovely solos and duets, this is a masterful reworking of Brian Wilson's classic.9. May the Road Rise Up- Tom Cully's poignant and emotive voice weaves this beautiful piece masterfully from start to end. His voice gives this song a mysterious and comtemplative feel, tying in well with the meditative nature of the lyrics. This will probably be one of the songs Tom's treble career will be remembered by best.10. Never be alone- This is a exciting and fresh new composition by ex-soloist Steven Geraghty. Its inspiring little chorus will stay in your subconcious long after you've listened to it, even after the first time. Brilliant solo work once again by Josh Madine, Tom Cully and Joseph Snelling.11. Jerusalem- Benedict Philipp's lovely little voice suits this old classic very well. Libera's glorious harmonies give this inspired song a magnificent touch.12. Tallis Canon- Edward Day opens this song before the other vocals come in and overlap as the song progresses. As usual, wonderfully woven harmonies can be expected.13. The Lamb- Benedict Philipp's sweet, almost fragile sounding voice complements this piece well. The harmonies give this song a mysterious yet poignant feel to it.14. In Paradisum- This is a reworking of Lux Aeterna from the album Libera. Both versions are equally beautiful, and I can't choose between the two. The soothing melody and shimmering layers of harmonies strike you the most in this song, and will bring a sense of beatific peace and calm. A wonderful way to end the CD.All in all, New Dawn is a brilliant inspired collection of 14 beautiful pieces. To all 24 boys credited on this album, Robert Prizeman their musical director, Steven Geraghty, Sam Coates, Ian Tilley, Ben Crawley and all others involved in the production of this wonderful work of art, thank you and well done.<3okay chem time (:
