What is a friend?"Friends are people with whom you dare to be yourself. Your soul can be naked with them. They ask you to put on nothing, only to be what you are. They do not want you to be better or worse. When you are with them, you feel as a prisoner feels who has been declared innocent. You do not have to be on your guard. You can say what you think, as long as it is genuinely you. Friends understand those contradictions in your nature that lead others to misjudge you. With them you breathe freely. ...They understand. You can weep with them, sing with them, laugh with them, pray with them. Through it all-and underneath-they see, know, and love you. A friend? What is a friend? Just one, I repeat, with whom you dare to be yourself"
(C. Raymond Beran, quoted in 10,000 Sermon Illustrations [Bible Studies Press, 2000])Wind Beneath My WingsIt must have been cold there in my shadowTo never have sunlight on your faceYou were content to let me shineYou always walked a step behindSo I was the one with all the gloryWhile you were the one with all the strengthA beautiful face without a nameA beautiful smile to hide the painDid you ever know that you're my hero? And everything I would like to beI can fly higher than an eagleFor you are the wind beneath my wingsIt might have appeared to go unnoticedBut I've got it all here in my heartI want you to know I know the truthI would be nothing without youDid you ever know that you're my hero?
And everything I would like to be
I can fly higher than an eagle
For you are the wind beneath my wingsDid you ever know that you're my hero?
And everything I would like to be
I can fly higher than an eagle
You are the wind beneath my wingsYou are the wind beneath my wings
